About Alan Copestake

I was born and brought up in Nefyn in the heart of the Lleyn Peninsula in North West Wales. I moved to Manchester to work at the age of 17 and stayed there, working in the Civil Service for the next 40 years until taking early retirement.

I enjoyed a successful musical hobby which enabled me to perform on CDs and broadcasts and travel the length and breadth of the UK playing in every major hall in this country and beyond.

Following retirement, I found time to start a new hobby which is now being developed into a career. I remember it was in January 2015 when I was facing my first blank canvass and thinking ' how hard can it be?!' - and since then I have enjoyed painting over 70 further canvases.

I specialise in recreating on canvas photographs and/ or locations that have special meaning or are personal to people. In the past some of these paintings have been given as special 'thank you' gifts and Christmas presents.
